Default OBD2?

Just wondering if my car is OBD2 compliant? It is a 95 Mustang 3.8. I am looking for a tool that would essentially allow me to monitor the computer etc. kinda what this Bully Dog WatchDog Fuel Economy Monitor does.

Thanks in advance.

Never EVER heard of that. My 95' has an OBDII shaped plug but is not OBDII.
Some people get confused and think it is because it has the same shape plug under the dash.

OBD II started in 95, but was made mandatory by the government that every 1996 and up model year had to have it.

So some 95's were OBD II. I think it went by model, though. So there was no VIN breakpoint for OBD I/II, the model either had it or didn't.

lol, i just saw a commercial on TV today for a little handheld thing called 'CarMD' i think. you plug it in to the obd and then plug it into your computer via usb and it gives you all this detailed info. It only works with obd2 i think because it said works with cars '96 and up. It was like $150.

Has anyone actually seen this? Is there any actual proof of this out there like a ref guide on repair or tuning?

The ONLY 1995 that I know of that has OBDII is that 95' Cobra (R) test mule that had all the 96' Cobra updates including a DOHC 4.6L and OBDII ECU. Its in both MM&FF and 5.0 this month but listed as a Jan 10' issue.

I'd like to know more about this so you guys better start posting some links now so I can add it to my Mustang knowledge database of bookmarks!

I saw that thing

I think I've seen one or 2 '95s with OBDII, but I don't remember what they were...

Yeah, its a truely rare car there that was destined for the Crusher after Ford got done with it. Luckily Ford let it go to live on and go into the hisory books.

For those that havnt read the article yet, its not an engine swap, it is the real deal, a pre-production 96' Cobra on a 95' Cobra chasis.
