Default New rear end

I just bought my 2002 v6 and its starting to make a clicking sound in my rear end. Any idea on what I should upgrade to and what from, I really can't afford a brand new rear end.

Is it a ball joint? The front would be a cv. I had to replace mine already and its a 2000....

Its not a ball joint as those are part of the front suspension. The clicking could be the spider gears, easiest/cheapest thing to do for starters would be to pull the differential cover and make sure there are no metal chunks loose in there. You can get another 7.5 from any 99-04 v6 or upgrade to a 99-04 GT 8.8 rear.

I'm new to the front engine, rear wheel drive setup. What measurement is the 7.5 and 8.8 referring to? And what are the benefits of upgrading to the 8.8?
