i finally found a shop that'll pass me, and i haven't been much within the last 2 months because of all the bull**** with this car. hows yours?

You have a clogged cat and bitching because you don't want to replace it?

It's not bull**** it's just you not getting the answer you want.

Virginia is as tough as Cali for smog. Word of caution to you if it's found your car is not emissions legal, you still manage to get a cert, and its found out.

1 the shop will get fined and possibly get their Emissions license revoked, 2 your car will have to go through the DMV/MVD (whatever they call it there) for a State inspector, not some shop.

You will get stuck with the bill for that and the hassle.

High flow cat is the best solution and does NOT require a retune. You should pass as long as your car is not on the edge (like already running rich). If it is, you have other problems.

I had a cali car that I switched out the 4 cats (cali had 4) to a 2-cat highflow system. Passed without any problems or codes. That's just my experience.
