Default Anyone port their windstar intake?

Why I ask is because I think I'm gonna port mine. With the 65mm TB that I'm going to run, it is giving me a 1/4 inch bottleneck. So, looking at this intake, it appears I could lose material out to the inner ring and be the exact size I need to be. Any thoughts, tips, etc.? Thanks.

IIRC the Winstar is a plastic intake correct? If thats the case I wouldnt really test the limit of it by shaving more out of it. I think you would run into issues if you shaved off to much as its not metal so its not going to be as strong as your old intake.

Cliff notes - No good idea IMO

Correct, it's composite so you can't port it.

He is talking about the TB opening.

The TB opening can be ported out, you can use up to a 70mm TB on the Windstar intake IF you fill the ring land with the same epoxy used to shut off the IAC ports on the rear.

The 70mm that was being ran on the one I saw was a Professional Products fwiw.

What does it matter?
While its off its a good time to go ahead and make it ready for whatever it might get down the road.

In cases where you know the car is a work in progress its often easier and makes more sense to upgrade whatever you have off at the time fully if you have the parts, knowledge or cash to do it.

Why tackle the same project 3 or 4 times?

Because I honestly doubt this guy is going to ever make 600wheel horsepower, and that's been done on a stock 95 throttle body.

Well what if he got a good deal on the thing?

You dont need to make 600rwhp for the stock tb to be a restriction.

No I won't. I don't any plans for anything like that. Maybe one day be 400, but that is waaaaayyyyy down the line for this car. Mainly, I just don't want the bottleneck that the windstar opening is creating. I mean I've opened up the entire air system, so why allow all of that to hit a ridge at the intake opening? As for the 65mm TB, I was already in the price of the windstar kit, so it only cost 40 more dollars to upgrade. At that price I couldn't pass.

Yeah I understand the 65mm TB upgrade, had I bought a VAP windstar kit I would have paid the extra 40$ myself.
