Dual exhaust sootyness

Dual exhaust sootyness
Howdy all. Thanks in advance for your help. I recently installed a what I think is a y pipe system dual exhaust with two flowmaster supper 44s. Everything works great except the passenger side exhaust tip is always seems to have an excessive amount of black soot compared to the driver side. Is this normal? Any suggestions as to what is going on? Thanks

That was my only thought daehawk. I mean my car is running fine and it sounds fine just the black soot. Any other ideas guys? Also to tomkat I thank you for your honest opinion and I respect it. But i did ask a tech question not really looking for one. I'm a college student who has liitle to no money and was over the moon when I was about to get dual exhaust. Flowmasters from what I heard were reliable we'll built and cheap. To me they sound great and from what I learned here you gotta do things to make you happy not others.

That's the attitude. Do what you want not others. If you like them that's all that matters. Flowmaster makes great exhausts.
If you're seeing an extreme amount of soot it can mean your engine is running very rich. If you even it out it will reduce the soot. You can also run the lowest octane gas which will help. The 87 I think it is.
This site has info on a way to clean it off/out.

This is why it's a good idea to so the mid pipe and go true dual, that way you don't run into these odd ball issues. The soot is likely being caused by the engine running rich due to a faulty sensor or a cat not properly doing its job. To answer your question no the y pipe does a terrible job at even air distribution that's why one side is showing more than the other. Eliminating the y and replacing with an h pipe will improve sound and eliminate these one sided issues.

Alright thanks guys. Very helpfull ill prob live with it for a while since money is tight and new wheels and tires are a must now. I have a local muffler guy who does great work for reasonable price. My question is should he be able to jus undo what he did and put the h in place? Also any recommended brands from like am that are on the cheaper side but still a quality product?
