Good measurements for tires

17" part doesn't matter. What is the width of them?
Typical is 17x8 - which means you are limited to about a 255 width tire (255/40/17 would be the full size number you want to look for).
If want true bigs/littles to look like a drag car, you'll need to get different rims.

what do u boys think of 255/75/17 in the back and a skinnier/75/17 in the front? If not your sayingg fat tires wear out? What would be a better width?

its not the fat tires wear out, its that tire rotations are good for tires and gives them a more even wear and so they last longer. its what you're suppose to do, according to mainstream automotive maintenance.
but us enthusiastic drivers will sacrifice lots for things for speed, power, performance or even looks.
i think what you're set refers to is called a staggered set up (when the two back tires are bigger than the two front tires)
What is you're goal for a staggered set up? looks or performance?
I think in a staggered setup, there will be better stability b/c its wider and more tires means more rubber contact to the ground so there's more traction.
BUT in order for a true staggered setup, your rims will "HAVE" to be different size. If you have the same rim size, lets say 17x8 the biggest difference may be somthing like this:
255/45/17 back and 235/45/17 but these are really bad setup and you're pushing the limits of your rims and it will perform poorly and even look bad. (safety issues too)
so its hard to give a useful response w/o knowing you're goal.
but in general, getting the right tires for the you're rims.

This is a personal opinion only, so take it how you wish. But I either would not recommend spacers at all, or recommend very small ones because if your rims/tires stick way out past the fender-wells it doesn't look very good at all. There is a 2000ish Camaro here in our town that has huge spacers on it and narrow tires and it looks just plain dumb
