Default Unfortunate Turn of Events

So right before i head inside to begin ordering upgrades for the '00 I notice a small coolant leak near the resevoir. I thought it was no big deal seeing as how I had just filled it yesterday, so I guessed it was just overfilled a bit. On further inspection I found a brown, thick goo near the radiator cap. Sadly enough this is often the sign of StopLeak, which has a rep for ruining radiators. I thought my heat was out only because of low coolant, but now I suppose the heater core could also be clogged with StopLeak and need replacing. Several hoses are collapsed. I'm not too familiar with engines, so in the worst case scenario how much damage could this have done? How much would it cost if it all needed replacing. I suppose heater core, hoses, possibly radiator and water pump... What else? Engine doesn't have overheat problems or odd sounds so I don't think it has permanently damaged anything yet... hopefully

thanks in advance

I would flush the whole system with your garden hose really good and find the leak that caused the PO to use stop leak. I ran it in my blazer for awhile till i had the tjme to do lower manifold gasket swap...didnt do any perm damage at all. Just be sure to flush the system good.
