Unhappy 2000 v-6 shakes violently when idling

Need your expertise please. My 2000 3.8L has been idling so hard it shakes the front end. I have replaced the IAC, Cleaned and checked the MAF, replaced the EGR valve. I don't have any codes being thrown either. Thinking about moving on to the EGR pressure feedback sensor...

Thanks

Changed plugs? Checked motor mounts?

Both good ideas. Will change out the plugs, wires and ignition coil next weekend. Not sure how to check motor mounts though.

Forgot to add, only vibrates when idling, whether in neutral or in gear. When it warms up after a rev, it drops about 500 RPM's. Did change out the PCV valve and fuel filter.

When you go to do plugs, wires, and coil do one at a time and test the car out in that order, that way you can get a refund on what you don't need.

That idle is a bit low, I suspect that your mounts are prolly fine. The low idle is what's causing the shake. Just gotta figure out why it's low.

Could be a vacuum leak, have you checked for loose vac hoses or loose intake clamps? There is a vac hose that connect to the intake tube- check for cracks there. A $5 gauge from Napa will tell you a lot about your engine.

Btw, check all of the plugs as you remove them. They should all be a light brown.
If any are not light brown, post the pic here and we can give you more suggestions.

I think you may be on to something... After replacing the EGR valve, the vibe mellowed but comes back sporadically. Not as bad though. I wonder if the throttle position sensor needs replaced?

A vacuum gauge.....

And your trying to make this a bigger issue that it prolly is. Start with the easy cheap stuff....plugs, wires, fuel filter, coil, don't jump straight to hard to diagnose and expensive stuff.

I never do trial and error fixes, a vacuum gauge is about 5-10 bucks and will give you a lot of info on the state of mechanical parts in your engine. You can run up a big bill replacing stuff that is perfectly good, and even make things worse by incorrectly installing a part, installing the wrong part, or breaking the part.

Here is a link that shows some of the common things a vac gauge will tell you-or eliminate. Clogged exhaust, leaky manifolds, sticky valves-they are a really handy tool.
Mine can also measure pressure-which is good if you suspect a fuel pump prob. btw, I put 198,000 on mine with the original fuel filter, I think they are blamed for a lot of problems.
