Since you can buy Fox-body V6s all day long for peanuts, if you REALLY want to put in another engine, find a good used Mustang and swap them. Then sell the other Mustang in "needs work" condition.

Would be much smarter in the long run to buy a used motor from a yard that comes with like a 30 day warranty than to buy another car to get the motor out of. Plus no offense to the Original poster but it does not sound like they have the necessary tools or experience to perform an engine swap at the moment.

Concur on them not having the know-how, but how do you get it if you don't do things like this? An engine swap is fairly straightforward.

I halfway agree on the yard engine, it depends what you get it for. When you buy a car, you can DRIVE it and see how the engine is doing, plus you know how many miles are on it. I had a cracked head on an engine a few years ago, and the cost of a head was about the same as the car I bought. After the head swap, I sold the car for almost what I'd paid. If I had bought from a yard, I might have NEEDED the warranty.

If they don't have the experience then its prolly safe to assume they don't have the tools, as well as will they have the space to store the other car, and they will need an engine lift, by the time they have bought all this plus another running car they could have found a less mileage motor from somewhere with like a month warranty and paid someone to put it in. You don't want to start someone who's never done this kind of thing off with a hard problem, that sours them to ever wanting to try anything related to it again if it doesn't go right the first time.

Since we don't know anything about them, it's also likely that they have a friend who can do this with his eyes closed and who has room to store the spare car until they sell it.

How about if we just present all options, and let THE OP choose the one that fits best?
