Trunk tools/jack configuration

Trunk tools/jack configuration
Ok, so I'm a bit obsessive in keeping the trunk compartment tidy. When I got my '03 convertible, I found the loose donut banging around in the trunk, a loose jack, and some sort of hook with a spring and a butterfly nut. All of this covered by a "u" shaped mat, (the one that has the "ears" for holding the lug wrench) plus a mat with a particle board sticked to it on top. My question is, how would the mat configuration go from bottom to top?:
1. "u" shaped mat/ lug wrench.
2. Tire/ jack
3. Big mat/ particle board
OR:
1. Tire / jack
2. "U" shaped mat
3. Big mat/ particle board
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

I don't have the mat or the jack.
I would suspect that the mat provides support for the particle board. If not, maybe it goes under the spare to keep the rim from rattling against the bottom of the spare well. If you compare the two possibilities, one should clearly make more sense.
Then, knowing Ford, they intended the exact opposite!

IIRC, There is a mat on the floor of the trunk, the jack goes in the middle under the tire with the jbolt going through it. lug wrench is off to the side, but still kept down by the tire, then the cup and nut hold the tire down. Then the carpet/mat/board lays on top.
