RE: V6 Swap Into Falcon
a 4.2L truck engine would be perfect or use a 4.2 rotating assembly in a 3.8 block.
they are very buildable engines and very durable much like the buick V6. the Thunderbird Supercoupe supercharged 3.8 would also make a nice engine. www.magnumpowers.com builds them up nicely as does www.coymiller.com
www.tmaturbo.com makes nice custom turbo kits for the 3.8/4.2
there are guy's with over 500rwhp on these engines
here are some links where you can find just about any other performance part for them.
www.rpm-mustangs.com
www.supersixmotorsports.com
www.moranav6racing.com
www.vmptuning.com
and there are others
the 3.8/4.2 Essex block would be a perfect engine for the Falcon it is as wide and high as a 302 if not slightly larger but shorter and much lighter with it's great flowing aluminum heads.
welcome to the site and good luck Keep us posted.
also try www.3.8mustangs.com it is a good site for v6 Tech support

RE: V6 Swap Into Falcon
yeah i have a 72 chevy truck that i wanted to put a inline 6 in, cause it would make the same h.p. as the old 350 in it, and probably more torque. but i got a mustang instead. still have the truck though.

also i'd go with a splitport head (99+ mustang engine) setup. 01 blocks are the best. the 98 ford windstar upper intake is real cool looking and the parts to make it work can be found at supersix
as for a tranny any 302/351/351cleveland auto tranny will bolt right up to the 3.8 so a built C4 will work but if you want an overdrive the AOD or newer AODE/4R70W can be built. the only proper shift kit or mod for the 4R70W up to 1998 is the "jerry mod". 99+ trannies can be firmed up with the SCT tuner or shift points can be burnt into an SCT chip
here are directions for the jerry mod

click on the 3rd one down "modifying valve body to jerry's specifications"

RE: V6 Swap Into Falcon
and adapter plate can be made for each side of the falcon to mate up to the V6 mounts.
the best thing to do is to take a bare block and lower it down into the bay to see what needs done.
if you need to get an engine or block. most junkyards will have a RWD 3.8 ford. becareful though the FWD 3.8's use the old 2.8 bellhousing and are not a good choice due to lack of suitable trannies.
www.stangparts.com also has good quality running engines and a few blocks. ideally an 01 or 02 4.2 truck engine would be the best way to go. they are very torquey and come with a bottom end girdle and windage tray from the factory as do the 3.8 01 and up mustang engines.
you can always get a 4.2 from www.rpm-mustangs.com i have dealt with them before and they are a first rate company with excellent customer service.
they have a 4.2 longblock for about $4000. that includes forged rods/pistons your choice in cam and i believe choice of roller rockers ratio (1.8 adjustable are the best)

RE: V6 Swap Into Falcon
the 4.2 tranny is a 4R70W in the 2wd pickups and can be used for your project
the E4OD is a heavier duty tranny used in the trucks up to 97 and used behind the 351W. not much performance upgrades are available for it and it is a large tranny like the C6 which requires a big Trans tunnel
the only potential issue that i can think of is the oilpan clearance with the steering. there may not be a problem but it is a possibility
