Swap to a bigger V6?

Swap to a bigger V6?
I have a question, and it may be a really stupid one (I'm new to this tuning/modding stuff). I know that swapping for a V8 is a HUUGE deal- new tranny, drivetrain, etc. But I was wondering if it might be a good idea to switch to a bigger/more powerful V6. Maybe a way to bypass all the extra cost/time? Idk. Or if you know another post about this, if you could post a link to it, that would be awesome. I was just wondering if this was practical.

+1 to MrSandMan. There's no such thing as a bigger V6 engine. It's a 4.0L and the next jump in liters is a 4.6L, which is a V8. Go FI (forced induction) for bigger HP gains if that's what you're looking for.

Another dumb question to the origonal poster.... Where are you going to get a bigger V6 that would fit? It would probably be more of a chore to get something to fit that was not an OEM in the first place. At least with the V8 you could get a donor car to supply the parts if you do something exotic it would get hairy.

I looked into this with an aussie i6 falcon motor for my car, the cost issue was importing parts, fabbing up a good trans and other misc. parts. The thing to remember with a swap is to find something that can mount up, use readily available computer, trans, wiring harness, etc. For swaps on these cars, mod motors are very friendly.

Well if I am not mistakin we have the same blocks as the 3.8 Liters before us. So if that is the case. You can get a 4.2 Liter Crank and some longer rods and stroke it but I dont know what kind of head clearnces and things you would have. But as many said before. If you are going to do something like that, either stroke it if you can do what I said, which I am not sure it will work. Or FI of some kind
I am talking about the Crank out of an 4.2 Ranger of the 00-04 variety. I know you can do the 99-04 3.8 Liters like that

The 4.0L in the S197 Mustang is a 60 degree V6 built in Cologne, Germany.
The 3.8L was a 90 degree V6 built in Canada. The Ford 4.2L V6 was a variant of this engine.
Two completely different engine series.
