Default Painting rocker panels

I know painting is an art, but I want to give it a try.
What is involved in prepping the panels?

It's much cheaper to just get a set of GT rocker panels. $130 from ninosport.

I would like to know too. Are the GT rockers made of a different material than the V6's? If I were to get my rockers painted would they look the same as the GT's? I cant buy takeoffs because they dont have my color. Sorry Thuxel didnt mean to add more questions to your thread. I was just wondering about this too.

you can paint our stocks if you want to guys but it will not turn out like the GT's,
unless you do it properly
ours are textured if no body noticed so you would have to build up material on top of the rockers to enable you to do body work to smooth them out, then paint them, then they will look like the GT's
unless you want to make yourself work hard just buy GT's, or you can have a body shop do it but then it will cost major change cause its alot more labor for the body man then just painting them

so as addison85 said cheaper to buy them, thats what im doing here eventually

Same. Got mine of ninosport. Great condition, got them in torch red.

Tundaplaya: What color is your car? Looks like they have all the colors from what i can see. If not, try www.newtakeoff.com they might have some there.

I painted mine and nobody can tell! If you touch them you can fell just a touch of texture, but you cant see it. I cleaned them with rubbing alcohol and primed with a sandable plastic primer. I used about 3 coats, this smoothed them out pretty good. Gave them a lite sanding the rubbed them down with alcohol again. Then shot a rattle can of touch up paint, about 3 coats. Let them dry over night and put them on. Cost me about $30.00 for the primer and paint. I needed 3 coats because mine mutang is white.

I would buy the GT take offs. if they don't have it in your color simply buy it in white and repaint it on top of that white base, it will be a lot easier than smoothing your v6 rockers, not to mention much more durable.

Who wants boring old smooth rockers like everyone else anyways. Be original, go with a nice stucco look.
