Default Gear brands?

Im looking at getting some 3.73's and a FRPP T-lok for my mustang but I really dont know which brand is prefered.
I heard the motive gears whine alot. I wanted to get the FRPP gears but they cost $240. I was told to stick with my 7.5 rear axle because it was lighter than the 8.8.
Im either going to change my gears or Im getting the Ford Racing dual x-pipe exhaust set up.

any suggestions?

The extra weight of the 8.8 isn't a big deal. It's stronger, that's all that matters. If it's in your price range swapping to the 8.8 with gears already installed is a great option. Check out newtakeoff.com. If not, just go with the FRPP gears in the 7.5, the expensive price is worth it.

Take off 8.8 guarantees no whine. You will have to find a very reputable shop that warranties their work. Where are you located in CA? I know a awesome shop that does.

I live in the East Bay 20 miles away from San Francisco. I need something that will give me a lil more power, since my idiot coworker decided to buy a 2001 Camaro z28 and has been giving me crap lately.

U.S. Gear..... they make the OEM gears for all the american automakes including the factory gears in you car right now. if your gonna do a gear swap, don't go cheap on the gears or you will increase the chance of heavy gear whine. if you can come across an 8.8 rear for a fair deal, go that route. good luck.

850 is a good price but what is the shipping cost? might end up being close to 1k once its all added up. if you got the funds, go 8.8. if you got a good local shop for a gear swap with a good fair price, you can't lose going that route either. thats what i did.

I did not look very hard but the other day I tried looking for frpp 4.10 and could not find them for the 7.5. Don't know if it really matters but thought I would share.

FRPP were made by motive for some period of time. from what i understand, FRPP now uses another manufacturing company. i think they are on their 3rd or 4th manufacturer now. not sure on the exact facts.
