Question About Start Up
I don't know if this is a common problem (search yielded no results)...butttt
Whenever I start up my '10 V6 stock AT, the engine will fluctuate between 1000-2000 rpms until i shift into drive. This happens anytime I start the car and is fairly noticeable. The car is still new (only 500 miles on it).
In my previous experience with others cars, this hasn't happened so I was wondering if this is normal for the mustang?
Thanks!

I normally let it sit for a few minutes before pulling out of the driveway. it could be due to the heat too as its been over 100 degrees for the past week.
Ill let it idle when leaving work today and see how long it takes for the rpm to settle.

Mine takes about 20-30 seconds on a cold start.

A high idle on a cold start is normal and should settle down after a bit; typically sooner when it's hot out than when cold. On cold start, the engine is running on default parameters until it begins to reach normal operating temperature. These aren't always the most efficient or operational friendly. If it bothers you, I have little doubt the dealership will be happy to tell you that's it's normal.

ehh it doesn't really bother me. I'm used to letting my cars idle before moving them. I just wasn't used the fluctuation in rpm.
anyhoo, after about 45 sec, its leveled out to around 750 rpm so I guess all is good.
Oh, btw, this car is sexyyy
