Default Stock 08 Pony Package rim size question

I am considering replacing my stock rims with the black American Muscle bullit rims. My stock tires are 235/55/17. What size rim do I get, the 17x8, 17x9, or 17x10?

Also, will I be able to put my stock tribar/pony center caps on the new American muscle rims?

Thanks.

I would say you have the 17x8 rim size.

Depends on whether you are keeping your tires or getting new ones. Also if you want to go staggered.

Depends on what size tires you want to put on next. With the stock 8" width wheel, you're limited to about 245's. With the 9", you have a lot more options but with the 10" you're getting into some odd sizes in a 17" tire. If you like staggered, I'd do 9" up front and 10" in back or 9's all around. With the 9", you can still stagger your tire size a bit, front to back.

Be aware that putting your OE 235's on a 10" wheel is not recommended.

17X9 is the best if you want to keep the 17s. 18X10 is what I would suggest if you want wider tires and good availability of tires. There is no reason to get wider wheels if you keep the same tires, btw.

If I were going to get new rims and tires myself, I would either get chrome deep dish bullits 18X10 out back and 18X9 up front with appropriate tires, or the race wheels AM sells 15X10 out back and (I believe) 15X3.75 up front.

Wrong! You can run 255/50-17 on the stock 17X8 rims and that size rim is generally the gauge size for 255/50-17 tires. 255/50-17 is also the same diameter as stock 235/55-17 so there is no need for speedometer adjustment.

American Muscle has the 17 x 9 black bullet rims on sale for $99 each. My current tires (235/55/17) have only 20k miles on them. Although it seems these tires are perfect for my stock 8 inch wheels, can I put these tires on the 9 inch wheel. If they will fit, I will buy the 9 inch wheels, keep my current tires, then go to a slightly larger tire when these tires are worn out.

Any input is appreciated.
