UPDATE: FRACTURED Coil Pack Bracket
A while back I had posted up pursuant to the upper lugs of my coil pack bracket having fractured and broken off. Thanks to member Josh M, I received this week a "new" replacement. Here's some pics of the broken and side-by-side with the "new".
Yes it was the UPPER lugs that broke. The lugs bolted to the Vyton PLASTIC intake manifold if you can believe it.
New vs. Olde
Again... New vs. Olde
My thoughts were that it was an inherent resonant frequency issue that cause this thing to break. As at certain RPM and load ranges it rattled to beat the band.... in fact, I thought I was losing my timing chain until I actually spotted it.
As it were, today, when I went to replace it... the two LOWER bolts... that affix it unto the cylinder head were maybe just an hair tighter than finger tight.
In all liklihood, an oversite on the assembly line. As it were, with the new bracket in there... the amount of rattles, taps... vibrational noises that are GONE.... is absolutely nothing short of amazing.
So... next time you're poking around under there... take a moment and ensure all four fasteners holding your coil bracket on are properly tightened.
