Default Want to dip into the 14's

What upgrades will I need to add to my car to get into the high 14's? Best time right now is a 15.2 but that was stock. Only thing I have done since then is exhuast. BTW, I plan on keeping the car N/A.

Thanks

15.2 stock? Nice. I don't know what I was stock, much much higher though. First time out I had dual exhaust and a CAI with no tune. I was sitting about 15.6. Next time out I had a tuner, put some 93 octane in and drove the 93 Race tune from AM's Bama Tune (Look into that, excellent!!). That time I hit a 15.1. So, if you did 15.2 stock, a CAI and tune will probably drop you into the 14s.

What were the conditions that got you there by the way? Manual, automatic? Temperature? Street tires? Sorry, I'm just interested in how you got such a nice stock number...

better gears like 3.73, a CA and Tune. That should easily put you in high 14's.

Start with a CAI tune combo and try and get your hands on a 8.8 w/3.73's. Can also run slicks. That will put you into the 14's.

Looks like you need a driver mod.

I've got an auto, there's not much to do other than just punch it... Right?

You still have to find the right launch rpm and technique, and adjust the tire pressures etc. after reading the track even with an automatic. It's more than just punch it and just go along for the ride. Hence the "driver mod" comment.

Like JimC said, you need to find the right launch RPM. Punch it too hard, you'll burn out more than necessary. Punch it lightly, then you're off to a slow start. Practice your 0-60. Our 4.0s are rated at 6.9 0-60 stock. I have an auto too and I used to get that 6.9 back when I was stock. I now have a 91 race tune (Bama), BBK cai, and dual exhaust and my best 0-60 has been 5.8 seconds. I constantly get 6 seconds, but since I'm the one timing myself, those .2 seconds can just be a timing error.
