Default Loud Rattle in the Front of My Car

Yes, I am sorry it is one of those threads.

Since the insulation has been out of my car in the last few weeks, I have been hearing a VERY loud rattle when I go over any sort of bump in the front of my car. What could this be?
My car does have 71k on it so could it be shocks or struts?
It does have a warranty, but I hate most of those jackasses touching my car.

Does it seem to be coming from the tunnel area? Like around your legs? I would bet that its possibly your heat shield around the cats hitting the underside of the car or the cats themselves.

It could be around my legs, but it seems to be further up, like around the wheel wells.
If it is the cats or heat shield is there anyway to keep it from rattling?

If its the heat shield, bend it away from the body if that is what it is hitting. A rattling more towards the wheel wells could be loose sway bar end links, loose strut mounts (you can tighten those in the engine bay on top of the shock towers), could be busted strut mounts but those usually make a clunking noise. Could be your fender liners, could be a lot of things!

i would put my money on top strut mounts(bearings) i havent got more than 30k out of mine, i`m on my 3rd set. this last time i used the gt500 mounts to see if they are any better, suppose to be anyway. the struts hold up pretty nice. my 2nd guess would be the sway bar end links

I have GT500 strut mounts too but they don't feel any stiffer or look any different then the stock ones....

i know, when these go bad i`ll take them apart and see if there really is any differences. they are suppose to be better. all i know is the stock oem`s were junk.

op, you might want to check your ball joints too. i had to replace my control arms and ball joints, tie rods, sway bar end links, struts, strut mounts and tires at the same time. ive got alot of miles though

ive thought about that too, maybe next time. the oems are good for 30-40k then they rattle. but around here, every road is a wicked road course so my frt end has taken a beating in 100k. no straight or flat roads anywhere (ozarks)
