Yea, I do an 'equalizing' charge once a month of 15V to help keep all
the cells in tip top shape.
A book could be written on lead acid battery maintenance...
I care for all the lift truck batteries at work.

I have replaced out 2 batteries since owning my car. I think the only small warning was it took a couple of cranks to start, which happened only a couple of times. Thankfully, both times the car battery died, it was in my garage. When I attempted to start the car, I would hear a real loud fast clicking noise. If you hear this, it's time to get a replacement battery.

Still have the original battery in my 2007 V6. It's on a Battery Tender Plus in a semi heated garage.

Exactly... best environment there.... IF they get 8 hours of work, 8 hours of charge and 8 hours of REST every 24 hours.

You want a lesson on batteries, get yourself to an olde GATO or similar class WWII submarine museum and see if anyone there actually served aboard. THEM guys... know their batteries!

Interesting though... the "equalizing charge" idea. Like a 2 amp trickle over-night?

I use 2 amps charge current and a 741 op amp to
turn the charger off once 15V has been obtained.
I also have an adjustable turn on voltage via another
741 op amp.
A highly modified battery charger of sorts.
Nothing electrical/electronic goes unmodified in my world.

Cool. I know the feeling... just finished re-wiring the olde Univox guitar I procured in 1974. It needed it. ;-)
