Hey all,

So I'm still fairly new at this Forum, making my way around and doing a little bit of reading here and there. Loving what I'm finding, can't help be impressed by most the things I've seen there.

Being in Canada, we have a reasonable amount of snow and looks like I won't be getting a beater this year. Will be taking the Stang out in Winter

I found a private seller who listed some Bridgestone Blizzak LM22s for sale for a nice low cost, problem is, I don't know if it'll fit my 2010 V6. The sizing is as follows: 235/45/18.

Whenever I go to dealers/tire shops, they are recommending 235/50/18...
Is it a big deal or a complete issue with the Sidewall if I settle with the 235/45/18s? I'd save about $600 if I settled for these.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have heard GREAT things about the Blizzak tires and see zero fitment issues on your ride.

I believe your ride is currently 235/50/18"s, so why the dealers are recommending this size. The tires you are looking to get will make your speedo run approx. 5 MPH fast at 70 MPH, IIRC per my own experience years back. If you have a tuner, you can correct the speedo easily.

That tire has been around for a while. Don't buy them if they're over 5 years old. The compounds degrade over time and could potentially be hazardous.

BTW, the size is appropriate and shouldn't alter the speedo significantly.

the snow tires I put on my winter beater were 8 years old when I put them on new. No problems what so ever. I knew they were old, they were in our warehouse for the entire time, no degradation in rubber at all. It really depends on the manufacturer of the tires. Some put more into material to withstand the elements of time. I have seen 3 year old tires look 10 years old and 10 year old tires look new. Manufacturer really does matter.

I have been around tires since I was a kid, worked for Goodyear for 19 years, sold all makes of tires, but will never have a doubt in a Goodyear tire. BFG is my 2nd favorite, then Firestone, then Michelin. ""Of the big 3/4 makers""

Hey all,

Thanks for the great advice. Decided to spend a $100 more and go w/ the Bridgestone Blizzak LM 25s, only 2 years old and was driven 3 or 4 times in winter by an elderly gent. Seems to be in mint condition. Can still see the colored striping down the centre of the wheels (red/blue) Sizing is as follows - 235/50/18. Should be a good fitment.
