Default Are wheel spacers dangerous?

I have a 1994 mustang. My wheels are grinding on my lower A arm. I was told to use spacers. But I was also told that if I use wheel spacers that there is a chance the wheel will fall of the car. Is this true?

depending on how thick the spacer is you may need to get longer studs , but ive never hear of a wheel falling off because of using spacers. Just make sure you have plenty of threads for the lugs to screw onto.
this link is the correct way to space your wheels.

Yes thickness lug length and torque make the difference, half *** it and yeah a wheel will fall off without a spacer!

With a 3.5 or 4in skinny you absolutely have to use a spacer on a sn car or the wheel will rub the brake caliper!

oh and yes i run spacers with my 4 in wheel, and havent ever had an issue!

I believe hub centric spacers are far more safe than generic(1 fits all) spacers.

The only thing I will add to this is if you do use spacers make sure you check your lug nuts after your first drive. I forgot to check mine and after a week of driving I had lost 2 lug nuts and my locker lug nut and the other 2 where loose. I could have lost my wheel while driving?!?!!?

I have quite a few friends that work for Discount Tire and they won't even mess with wheels with spacers. I know that if you come in with spacers and get tires changed, they will not put the spacers back on. They will take them off before they reassemble everything. I had a Jeep too and if the spacers were not on, those tires weren't going to fit anymore.
