100 mpg Fox?

100 mpg Fox?

100mpg fox.JPGI don’t think so.

Most Mustang enthusiasts have read about this magical 1987 Mustang that the owner/engineer claims will get 110+ miles per gallon, dash from 0 to 60 in 4 seconds, and hit top speeds of over 100mph.  this story has been floating around for a while now, and when I heard that it would be coming to SEMA, I was excited to finally get a look at this mystical economy performance car.

What I got, was a look at a fox notch that can be described as rough, at best, with a cheap flyer pinned to the windshield with more of the same.  More claims of what the car can do, but since the engineer of the car claims to have spent 1.4 million dollars to achieve the goals of 100+ mpg and 400+ horsepower, the “team” still refuses to allow anyone to have any idea as to what they did to the car to reach these goals.  They were nice enough to plug the owners performance shop, which in my eyes makes the whole thing look like nothing more than a desperate promotional stunt.

So once again, this car is nothing more than an 87 Mustang with “1.4 million dollars” sunk into the drivetrain (as there couldn’t have been much spent on the paint), with promises of outrageous performance and economy measures.  These guys haven’t done a single thing to prove that this car can do anything that they claim, nor have they done anything to show that it gets better than average fuel economy…so why are we expected to believe this guy, with absolutely NO basis for their claims?

Should we really believe that in the last 30 years since the government started cracking down on vehicle economy, that none of the aftermarket performance companies or OEMs have been able to figure out what this guy claims to have discovered after spending 1.4 million dollars?  He goes on about how he could have easily sold his technology, but “the country needs this technology”…so what is he waiting for?

As nice as it is to think that 110mpg and 400hp is at our fingertips, I think that it’s a load of crap and I won’t believe otherwise until this guy finally quits playing his little games and reveals exactly what is done to this car to reach these unbelievable measures.

While it has been talked about before here, we would like to know what you think…give your input here! (Click here)
