New 2021 Mustang colors include Antimatter Blue, Yellow Peel, and Fighter Jet Grey.

While we wait patiently for the S650, we can distract ourselves with news about the 2021 Mustang refresh. And now we can also visualize what color our ideal 2021 Mustang would be. The folks over at Mustang6G recently scored a list of the colors that Ford is planning on offering on the 2021 Mustang. Apparently the list of colors was sourced from Ford’s paint suppliers. The list was found over at Automotive Touchup. Mustang6G notes that some of the colors are also going to be used on the controversial new Mustang Mach-E. It is also unknown which variants of the new Mustang will be available with the new colors.

The list includes Antimatter Blue Metallic, Yellow Peel, Fighter Jet Gray, Carbonized Gray Metallic, Oxford White, Twister Orange, Race Red, Lucid Red Pearl, Velocity Blue Metallic, Ford Performance Blue Metallic, Absolute Black, and Iconic Silver Metallic. The first five colors listed are new. As expected the thread on Mustang6G has also led to some commentary from the forum users. “That fact that there are three blues and all are metallic to me it what’s wrong with Ford,” says user Schwerin. “I very rarely like metallic colors. Just make a damn normal blue.” Have to say we kind of agree with that sentiment.

And, of course, there was some humorous commentary on the names that Ford gave some of the colors. “I’m worried about what’s going to happen when the paint comes into contact with normal matter,” quipped Mikthehun1. “You think our paint chips easily now? Just wait until it starts getting annihilated in bursts of gamma rays.” Good one.

Forum user Twin Turbo rightly notes that the list of colors is probably the biggest change in available hues on the Mustang since the mid-2000s. “That’s the biggest change in colors since the S197 days,” he notes. “Gutted there’s still no Grabber Blue returning… and also gutted there’s no more Grabber Lime.”

Of course, it’s also possible that not all of these colors will actually be available when the 2021 Mustang does arrive. “I’m of the theory that Ford has a lot of ideas,” notes forum user 5.Oh Crush. “Just like the phone makers. They have 3-5 ideas and launch 2-3 and hold others in their back pocket for a couple years.”
