2001 Mustang 3.8L Manual.
I accidentally broke the screen that protects the MAF sensor. The screen is not totally broken but is partially torn at an edge. Is this something that can be replaced? Or do I need to buy the whole casing (with MAF, screen, etc.). I don't even know what the part is called. Any suggestions and guidance are most welcome. Thank you!

 

I don't think you can find them new anymore, it apparently is just there to help smooth out the airflow a bit for the MAF sensor. A lot of people just remove them though, you can probably find one at a wrecker or on ebay or something if you're concerned about it

Yes! That's precisely it. I was told not to worry too much about this screen that protects the MAF, but also read online that they are important regulating the air flow that goes to the MAF sensor. I was so worried... LOL. The next morning I visited a couple of junkyards until I found a replacement! I paid $22 total for the casing where the MAF and this screen go. The MAF itself had already been removed, but I was happy to get that little circular metal screen. I replaced that little screen only, put in a new air filter, and now I'm back in business.
