5. 2010 Boss 302R

This was the last of the competitive road-racing Mustangs with a live rear axle and it marked 40 years since the 1970 Trans-Am championship in the Boss 302. The Boss 302R may not have dominated the circuit like some of the other racecars in the list. But it is a historic model nonetheless. It was built by Ford Performance, sold through Ford dealerships, and only 50 examples were built.
