Amazing GT500 Save at Hockenheim

For 2015, Ford has made a huge effort at stabilizing the Mustang platform for those that want to not only take it to the drag strip, but also around an actual track. To that end, gone is the lively old rear axle, and in its place, a brand new independent rear suspension.

The IRS setup allows the new Mustang to be quite rigid, but also uniquely set up for a more twisty set of roads and tracks. However, none of the new Mustang’s features are going to help the driver of this 2013 Shelby GT500 Mustang at Hockenheim in Germany. Just be ready to pucker as you watch the video below.

While the driver and passenger are a bit overjoyed in saving the car from the tire barrier and wall, I’m not exactly sure what happened. It either looks like he got a high speed wobble going on, or one of the car’s brakes failed. What do you guys think happened here?
