Clean, original, low-mile Fox Body Mustangs are as rare as hen’s teeth these days. This well-preserved beauty is quite the find.

Of all Mustang iterations, few were beloved as much as the Fox Body. This legendary platform resurrected Ford’s pony car from the dark ages of the Mustang II. It was, quite literally, a breath of fresh air after government regulations nearly killed one of America’s favorite cars. But as popular as 1978-1993 Mustangs were, finding a gem these days isn’t exactly easy, as most were driven into the ground. But this 1982 Mustang GT, which we spotted over at Leake Auctions, is one of the nicest examples of that breed you’ll ever see.

The seller claims that this stellar pony has only 21,500 original miles, though the title is exempt. But judging by the pictures they provided, we have little reason to doubt that. The original paint and bodywork look like something you’d see on a car stored inside for the last 36 or so years, that’s for sure. The engine bay, where you’ll find a very correct looking 5.0-liter V8, is every bit as sanitary.

Roll underneath and it’s the same story. It doesn’t appear that this 1982 Mustang GT was ever even driven on a rainy day. In fact, all the suspension bits and exhaust are clean enough to eat off of.

And we can’t imagine the restraint it took to retain the factory cats. Not to mention the other bits that choke back the power on these early cars. But in this case, it’ll easily pay off in resale value.

With early Mustang prices soaring ever higher, will clean, original Fox Body Mustangs be the next hot collectible? Considering the resurgence of interest in cars from this era, we wouldn’t doubt it. Couple that with the fact that finding one as clean as this 1982 Mustang GT is next to impossible, and you’ve got the makings of the next big thing!
