Best Color Options for Daily Mustang Driving

The 2012 Ford Mustang is offered in a variety of different colors and throughout the history of the fabled pony car, pretty much every shade of every color under the sun has appeared on one trimline or another. But what is the best color choice for your daily driven Ford Mustang?
Color is, of course, mostly subjective, but there are certain factors that should be taken into effect when picking the exterior color of your new Mustang. I have spent time in about 30 new cars over the course of the past year with every imaginable color range from Black to White and everything in between.
First off, let’s look at the top three most popular color choices in the American auto industry as they appear on the 2012 Ford Mustang lineup – Black, Ingot Silver Metallic and Performance White. If you are a lazy car owner, black and white are going to be a problem for you. In my experiences, black is very easily the hardest color to keep looking clean – especially if you live in an area with lots of dust. Plus, black cars get terribly hot in the summer. White may stay a little cooler but it also shows anything that splashes up onto the body so if you’re not good about keeping your car clean, black and white may be colors to avoid. Silver is one of the most popular colors in America, and while I’ve owned a silver car, I don’t get why so many people lean towards this fairly boring color.
I’m a believer that the Mustang is a car that should stand out in a crowd and an eye-catching color is the best way to do that. I personally love the look of Grabber Blue on the 2012 Mustang and this bright color brings a little old-school flavor to this modern muscle car. If you want bright but Grabber Blue isn’t your thing, Race Red and Yellow Blaze Metallic Tri-Coat (gold) are nice stand out colors, although the Yellow Blaze will cost you an extra $495. If you like blue but don’t want to go with the super bright Grabber choice, Kona Blue Metallic offers a deep blue that gleams in the sun. The downside of this dark blue is, like black, it gets awfully hot in the summer sun.
Next, if you like the look of a dark metallic code that sparkles in the sun, Ford offers Red Candy Metallic and Lava Red Metallic. Red Candy is exactly what you would expect and this darker metallic red has been offered on the Mustang in one form or another for years now. The problem with this paint is that it also adds $495 to the sticker price, although in my experiences this color selection is easier to keep looking clean. Lava Red Metallic is a unique extra dark red – looking black in some settings. This is certainly a unique color and as one of the colors that you see less of on the road, Lava Red would make your 2012 Mustang more unique.
Finally, if you want an orange Mustang in 2012 your only choice is the new Boss 302. While the Boss 302 is offered in other colors, it is the only 2012 Mustang offered in Competition Orange.
