Can a Mustang GT Take Down an E92 M3?

The E92 generation M3 is widely regarded as one of the best driving cars out there, and it can certainly hold its own on the race track. To see what the performance delta is, this track battle pits a bone-stock low-mile M3 against a 2015 Mustang with stickier tires and a track pack. With the used M3 still priced at nearly $50,000, and the Mustang with modifications still around $35,500, the price advantage is significant. Watching the video below, you’ll see the end result gives the Mustang a full 2-second on-track advantage, without sacrificing anything in comfort. How?
The 2-Second Delta
Where does the Mustang find two seconds on the track? The short answer: everywhere. With better braking from the Track Pack’s Brembos, better cornering with improved tires, and nearly-equal power leading to nearly equal acceleration, the Mustang carries more speed through the corners, and scrubs speed quicker. With better tires and better brakes, the M3 could certainly keep pace, but the cost would be significantly more. The Mustang already undercuts the Bimmer by nearly $15K, making its advantage all the more impressive.
Save the cheddar, buy a Mustang.
