Changes to the 2013 Mustang: GT

By -

2013-ford-mustang-gtThe changes to the GTs start up front. While the GT retains the massive grille mounted fog lights–many believed they wouldn’t return– it receives a new lower fascia with a front splitter to enhance the aerodynamics. The shortened hood also gets a new set of heat extracting gills which help to suck heat from the engine bay while also giving the car a sportier look.

Under the hood, Ford has found eight more horsepower in the 5.0L Coyote V8, increasing output to a healthy 420 horsepower. The motor can be mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox , which includes Ford’s SelectShift manual shift mode for enhanced driver control.
Also new for 2013 is the GT Track Package, which adds an engine oil cooler, a larger radiator, and a Brembo high performance braking system, which includes 14″ front rotors, and performance friction brake pads.

2013-ford-mustang-gt.jpgPower gets to the pavement via 19″ wheels up front, 20″ wheels in the back and summer rubber all around. The GT Track Package is only available on 2013 Mustang GT models equipped with the 6-speed manual transmission and a 3.73 rear gearset.
