Do Kooks Headers Bring the Noise for the Mustang GT350?

Shelby GT350

Ford’s new VooDoo flat-plane crank V8 engine that resides under the hood of the new Ford Shelby Mustang GT350 and GT350R is among the most highly talked about engines in production today. It’s an American V8 engine that revs all the way up to 8,250rpm, which gives the Shelby GT350 an other-worldly sound that must be heard in person to truly appreciate.

However, there have been a few naysayers since the release of the car, who feel that Ford was very conservative when tuning the exhaust noise of the purpose-built track car. With that in mind, many aftermarket parts manufacturers have begun building new exhaust systems for the track car. One of those, which we featured not too long ago, is from Magna Flow. What Magna Flow did with the GT350 is nothing short of brilliant. It seems that you can’t do any wrong when uncorking the GT350.

Or can you.

Recently, Kooks, the makers of all things exhaust related, released a short Instagram video teasing the company’s upcoming headers and new X-pipe. In it, the new exhaust system sounds like it’s an old rusty unit from a Fox Body. It definitely doesn’t sound like a ridiculous naturally aspirated FPL engine that’s been uncorked. It just doesn’t sound right at all.

Of course, this could also be a product of being recorded on someone’s iPhone. We won’t know until we get a full video, which should be coming out soon.
