Don’t Like the S650? You Can Still Buy a Brand New S550 Mustang
Those that prefer the S550 Mustang over the S650 are in luck, because there are nearly a dozen new last-gen models still for sale in the U.S.
The debut of the all-new S650 Ford Mustang was one ripe with some exciting news, but for some, it was also a bit of a letdown. While most pony car generations bring forth massive changes in many areas, that wasn’t really the case, as the S650 looks quite a lot like the S550 Mustang that preceded it. Of course, there are some big changes in terms of tech and interior design, but many are struggling to justify the extra cost of upgrading to the S650. Luckily for them, there are still a few brand new S550 Mustangs examples out there for sale, however.
Taking a look at Autotrader, we can find nearly a dozen S550 Mustang models for sale across the U.S. at the moment, and it’s a pretty diverse mix, to boot. Amazingly, they also date back to the 2022 model year, starting with this EcoBoost model that has the 2.3L High Performance Package, which is up for sale at Randy Marion Ford Lincoln in Statesville, North Carolina, with an asking price of $41,997 – a bit of a discount over its MSRP of $46,410.
For those who want a V8-powered S550 Ford Mustang, there’s this 2022 Ford Mustang GT Premium model that’s received a round of upgrades from Roush Performance. The convertible model has been discounted heavily as well – from $76,920 down to $53,500 – and is being sold by OC Welch Ford in Hardeeville, South Carolina.
Things get quite a bit pricer from here, as most of the rest of our brand new S550 Mustang lineup are more exotic examples. That list includes a few Shelby-modified pony cars, including more than one Super Snake packing 825 horsepower. This 2023 model is among that group, and it’s listed for sale at Ford Square of Mount Vernon, Illinois, with an asking price of $124,995.
Finally, we have a couple of leftover, brand-new GT500s for the taking, including this Brittany Blue example with the desirable Heritage Edition Package. It’s a brand new 2022 model (the final model year for the S550 GT500) up for sale at State College Ford in State College, Pennsylvania, with an asking price of, well, we don’t know. The dealer isn’t telling us how much it wants for this limited-edition model, which is probably why it’s been sitting there, waiting to find a home, for a few years now.
