1993 Ford SVT Cobra

This 1993 Ford SVT Cobra was parked after it left the dealership and was never driven again. For only $145,900, it could be yours.

Marshall Goldman in Cleveland, Ohio is asking $145,900 for a Fox Body Mustang. That might seem like an absurd asking price at first, but this is not just any Fox Body. It is a 1993 Ford SVT Cobra. And it has only 34 miles on the odometer. Not 34,000. Not 3,400. THIRTY FOUR. This is a time capsule car. It was sold over thirty years ago, but never driven. The only thing that has ever been replaced is the battery. And according to the sales ad the car runs perfectly. Of course, with a car like this it is extremely unlikely that the new owner would actually drive it. But if someone does plan to drive it, replace those tires!

Insanely low miles aside, the 1993 Ford SVT Cobra is a wonderful car. The 5.0L V8 puts out a healthy 235 horsepower. That is a 30 horsepower bump of a standard 1993 Mustang GT. This power is controlled by a 5-speed manual transmission. The Cobra rides on 17-inch wheels that are shod with the original Goodyear tires. The Black clearcoat paint looks like it was applied yesterday. This car was obviously well cared for while it was in storage.

Condition

Interior

This is not a barn find 1993 Ford SVT Cobra. The car doesn’t have rotting tires, faded paint, and rat droppings throughout the interior. This car looks like it is sitting in a showroom in 1993. Most of the original shipping plastic still covers parts of the interior. The window sticker is still attached to the passenger-side window. The car also comes with original books and keys, original dealer keychain, business card and down payment receipt, the Marti report, bifold, and multipage Cobra brochures. The original SVT certificate is also included. The calendar may show that it is the year 2024 but this car includes everything that you would have received if you picked it up in 1993. Incredible.

You Can’t Drive It

Engine

This 1993 Ford SVT Cobra is truly amazing and probably the best example in the world. And as cool as that is, it does present a problem. That problem is that you can’t really drive this car. Technically you can drive it. Give it some fresh fluids and new tires, and, in theory, it should be ready to go. However, a nice example of one of these with more typical mileage can be had for between $40,000 and $70,000. So, you are paying a huge premium for this delivery mileage example. You aren’t going to do that and then rack up miles on it. That is a shame because these are such fun cars to drive.

Other Options

New Cobra

Quite a few people bought these and stored them away without putting many miles on them. This same dealer has several other 1993 Ford SVT Cobras listed for sale. One example has just 503 miles. Several others have between 10,000 and 12,000 miles. So, if you can’t quite afford this 34-mile example, you have other choices. It is too bad that so many people decided to use these cars as investments instead of driving them. Life is short. If you have a cool Mustang, we suggest you get out and drive it.
