2021 Mustang Mach-E

Fans of the Mach-E can view the extensive details about the upcoming electric pony, including price drops and new tech.

Coming soon to a Ford dealer near you, the newest torchbearer of the Mustang name set to pave a new road for the legend: the Mach-E. Unlike the rest of the stable, the electric horse comes in a crossover body with Mustang-inspired styling, plus rear or all-wheel drive to snap the necks of doubters everywhere. You’ve likely ordered one for your family. After all, there’s more room in the back for them, but still plenty of fun for you.

But if you haven’t ordered one yet, you might interested in a couple of posts from the Mach-E Forum. According to Autoblog, said posts are leaks of the features guide and the price list for the Mach-E. Here’s a few things we found within.

As far as the price list goes, the big news is a couple of $600 price drops. The Mach-E Premium falls to $50,000 as a result, while the Mach-E California Route 1 comes down from $52,400 to $51,800. The price list is missing the GT, though that’s due to its availability late next summer, as well as its reservation-only ordering status. Still, $600 off the two middle-tier ponies is a big deal.

The real fun, though, is the features guide. If you opt for anything above the Select, you’ll receive both the Co-Pilot360 and Active 2.0 Prep Package as standard equipment; the tech pair is part of the $2,600 Comfort/Technology package for the Select. Either way, the two components provide the foundation for Ford’s Active Drive Assist, due in the third quarter of 2021 for an additional fee. The software allows hands-free driving so long as you’re paying attention to the road.

Power output, meanwhile, is better than originally stated for the three Mach-E trims. Rear-drive units with the 68kWh battery are good for 266 horses and 317 lb-ft of torque. The bigger 88kWh pack ups the ponies to 290. However, those who opt for all-wheel drive gain between 266 and 346 horsepower. Torque is 428 lb-ft across the board.

The Mach-E is a leap forward for Mustang and Ford. We’ll see how it all pans out over the next few months.
