Mustang Packed With 150 Pounds of Marijuana

Mustang Bust

When Ford bragged about all that interior space you get in a Mustang, they probably didn’t envision this.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Arizona busted Luis Alberto Soto DeLaCruz driving a Mustang with more than 150 pounds of marijuana hidden throughout the car, according to a KPHO report. The 22-year-old man from of Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico apparently stuffed the drugs in various hidden compartments in the car. But clearly not good enough.

All the marijuana found hidden in the Mustang was valued at $75,000, which amounts to some pretty hefty cargo, based on the scales of law enforcement.

KPHO’s original headline for the story called it the “Pot Pony,” which I honestly can say is the first time I’ve ever heard of a Mustang called by that name in my nearly 20 years of covering news around the car. That alone is something worth reporting, right?
