Pricing Info: 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1
The next-gen Mustang Mach 1 will start at $52,720 and come in two trim levels. Here’s what you need to know.
We’ve been following the developments around the next-gen Mustang Mach 1 since rumblings surrounding the release started over a year ago. And while we’ve learned about some of option packs that would be available, we haven’t know exactly what the Blue Oval’s middle child would sit price wise, aside from knowing it would be somewhere between the range-topping Shelby cars and the standard GT. Now, we have the info straight from Dearborn.
According to Ford, the Mach 1 will be offered in two trim levels, and interested parties will have to cough up $52,720 for the base model, and $54,315 for the Mach 1 Premium. Now obviously both models share a lot in common with the GT, but the significant price hike — GTs start at just over $36k — does bring some cool bits, go-fast and otherwise. Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect from the two trims.
Importantly, given the model’s high-performance aspirations, neither offering is available as a convertible. So if you’re looking for that wind-in-your-hair feeling, you’ll have to stick with a GT or EcoBoost.
Both models get the 480-horsepower V8, options for a six-speed manual or ten speed auto, active exhaust, the handling package, a numbered dash plate, and importantly, the trick MagnaRide suspension system. To keep drivers in place while exercising the car’s athletic capabilities, there are also highly bolstered Recaro seats, so hopefully potential buyers haven’t been loading up on carbs during COVID lockdowns.
Standard Mach 1 colors include Racing Red, Velocity Blue, Iconic Silver, Grabber Yellow, Oxford White, or Shadow Black. Twister Orange is a $495 premium. Each of those colors can be topped with one of four stripe packages. Painted red calipers will run $495, while $394 gets you 19-inch wheels.
Interior wise, the trims are pretty much the same. But Premium models have an additional option for leather Recaros, which will set you back $1,595, and a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound which is part of the $1,295 Elite package. The Elite Package also includes wheel locks, which will run $495 if opted for separately. Exterior-wise, only Premium models are available in Fighter Jet Gray, and there’s an additional — black and orange — stripe set. So overall, Ford kept things pretty simple.
Personally, if I could pick any modern Mustang, I would go with the GT350, as the flat-plane crank in the Voodoo motor makes such a glorious wail, I don’t really care that it’s a little down on power from some of the more potent Shelby cars. Second on the list would be the Bullitt, because even though — as a I said a couple of weeks back — the movie it’s inspired by is pretty dumb, the model itself is awesome.
But which would you choose? Hit me up and let me know, and make sure to stay tuned for more news about the next-generation Mustang Mach 1!
