by Patrick Rall Last year, Ford Racing introduced the new Ford Mustang stock car body to the NASCAR Nationwide Series where it went head to head with the Dodge Challenger in a clash of the modern muscle cars. By Teddy Field Back in 1985, shoulder pads and penny loafers were in vogue. Michael J. Fox took us Back to the Future in his DeLorean, and we all prayed that Ronald Regan would be able to keep us safe from Mikhail Gorbachev and his fearsome nuclear arsenal. Each year Ford donates a very special one-of-a-kind Mustang as part of its continuing commitment to the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) AirVenture and the organization’s Oshkosh aviation event held annually in Wisconsin.
This year, the very special Mustang was the 2012 Ford Blue Angels Mustang GT, which as its name suggests, was built around an aviation theme.
We can gladly report that the custom Ford Mustang has been sold during an auction at the 2011 EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, which took place this past weekend, and managed to fetch a staggering $400,000.
All proceeds will go towards the EAA’s Young Eagles program, which has provided free introductory flights to more than 1.6 million young people since 1992 while also teaching the value of hard work, personal responsibility and enhanced math and science skills.
The buyer, who wished to remain anonymous, was a man from California.
