Next up on the docket is the 2026 Mecum Glendale auction, which is set to take place March 17-21, and as has historically been the case, there are lots of interesting, cool, rare, and downright valuable Ford Mustangs lined up for folks to bid on.
Among that massive group of lots set to cross the auction block soon, we’ve singled out what we believe are the 10 best of the bunch – not an easy task, to be honest. Regardless, all 10 of these Mustangs are quite special in their own unique ways, and should conjure up plenty of interest when they go up for grabs in a couple of weeks.
Custom 1968 Mustang Fastback
This stellar custom 1968 pony car was built by the folks at Mustang Brothers, and it’s a former 2024 SEMA Show car and multi-award-winning creation. What makes it unique, however, is the pony car’s custom panoramic glass roof and removable Thunderbird Sports Roadster-style tonneau cover, which fits over the fold-down rear seat.
1967 Mustang Eleanor
There are quite a lot of Eleanor Mustangs out there these days, but this one is actually listed in the Eleanor World Registry Club, and it comes with the documentation to support that. Otherwise, this car was treated to a full-blown redo this year, and it’s packing a Smeding Performance 427 Cobra stroker V8 cranking out 561 HP and 564 lb-ft of torque.
1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429
Any Boss 429 is a thing worth celebrating, given how rare and special they are. That certainly applies to this freshly-restored example, which is finished in Black Jade and looks even better than new as it sits.
Eleanor Tribute Edition
As for this Ford Mustang Eleanor, it’s an officially licensed Tribute Edition model, and as such, it’s chock full of tantalizing upgrades. Those center around a fortified version of the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 that now cranks out 750 horsepower, along with a modern suspension and classic movie car looks.
1984 Mustang GT350 20th Anniversary
Back in 1984, Ford built a mere 1,361 examples of the GT350 20th Anniversary Mustang to celebrate that model’s latest milestone, and this one is quite nice. In fact, it has a mere 6k miles on the clock, and it comes with the original build sheet and a Marti Report.
2020 Ford Mustang Steve McQueen Edition
Another pony car offered in limited quantities, this 2020 Mustang Steve McQueen Edition is the third of just 300 produced in total, and it has 270 miles on the clock. These cars were built by Steeda to honor the movie-famous Bullitt Mustang, and this one has the optional Whipple supercharger upgrade, enabling it to crank out 775 horsepower.
2023 Ford Mustang Carroll Shelby Centennial Edition
Speaking of rare builds, this Mustang Carroll Shelby Centennial Edition is just one of 100 that exist, and it is basically brand new with 30 miles on the odometer. It too has a supercharged Coyote with 750 horsepower on tap, along with various other appearance and performance upgrades.
2008 Mustang Bullitt
For those looking for a real-deal OEM Mustang Bullitt, they don’t get much better than this 2008 model, which has traveled just 2,600 miles in its lifetime. It’s even still rolling on the original tires, though we imagine the new owner might want to replace those if they plan on driving it.
1969 Mustang Mach 1
This 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 isn’t some freshly restored, ultra-rare, or super valuable machine, which should endear it to folks who don’t have massive amounts of funds to throw around. Rather, it’s a very nice example of a cool car, and one that may wind up selling for reasonable money, too.
1970 Mustang Mach 1
Rounding out our list of cool Mustangs heading to Mecum Glendale is this 1970 Mach 1, which is one of just 228 produced in this particular combination of options. The yellow pony car is powered by the mighty 428 cubic-inch R-code Cobra Jet V8, mated to the C6 automatic transmission in this case, making it a compelling target for collectors.
