This is because a convertible is usually heavier than a coupe and a coupe is usually more rigid than the convertible. But speed isn’t everything. And unless you are a professional driver getting paid to set the quickest lap times, do you really care about a few tenths of a second? Some folks feel that the ability to drop the top, and get the wind in your hair experience is well worth the tradeoff of slower lap times.
