Totally-rebuilt 1970 Mustang Mach 1 Will Make You Stop & Stare

Master painter has expanded his operation to include total repair and fixing this Mustang Mach 1’s ills was job number one.

Commissioning a custom builder to slap together your dream build is a task that should be ripe with joy. After all, you’ve had to work hard and save up the dough to get it done. And when you’re spending the kind of cash that a top notch build commands, the results should be exactly what you’re paying for. Unfortunately, that isn’t always the case. Sometimes, builds like this killer 1970 Mustang Mach 1 just don’t turn out the way they should.

Thankfully, there are some reputable places like KCs Paint Shop in the world to make things right. Fast N’ Loud fans will undoubtedly remember KC, who served as Gas Monkey Garage’s paint master until he left to start his own business. Since then, he’s expanded into a full-service facility and experienced tremendous success. Mostly because, well, he does things the right way.

When this Mustang rolled in his shop, it was looking great but not running right, as KC explains. “It has FAST fuel injection on it,” he explains. “But the fuel lines weren’t correct, and it wasn’t even set up in the handheld correctly. So we left the FAST but went to all Air Motive. It’s got a 340 pump in the tank, 6 feed, 6 return. Everything is set up in the computer correctly and now it runs really good.”

KC also swapped out the no-name coilovers to RideTech and adjusted the travel to eliminate the formerly terrible ride. Simple stuff, yes, but clearly a handful of oversights that made driving this Mustang a painful experience. It certainly sucks that the owner had these kinds of problems in the first place, but we’re glad that good folks like KC are around to make them right!
