Turning an S550 Mustang GT into a 1967 ‘Eleanor’ GT500

Are you watching this epic build series that involves cutting up a 2015 Mustang GT and installing 1967 ‘Eleanor’ GT500 sheet metal?
What car guy hasn’t had this dream? “I want all the performance, reliability, and amenities of a new car that looks like an old school Mustang?” It’s basically the best of both worlds. All the cool, but none of the hassle of owning a 60-year-old car. Enter the restomod. Traditional restomod builds start with an older body and involve installing modern powertrain and suspension components. But YouTuber Chris Steinbacher, of B is for Build, is taking a radically different approach with his latest Mustang build series
Steinbacher and his friends started with a salvage title 2015 Mustang GT. It looked to be a base GT, so nothing fancy, but still… push-button start, A/C, anti-lock brakes with traction control, and, of course, a 435 hp naturally-aspirated gen 2 Coyote just waiting for a tune and other mods.
The B is for Build crew proceeded to remove and chop out all of the body panels, roof, and other non-structural 2015 components to make way for 1967 Mustang replacement panels. Their goal: recreate the ‘Eleanor’ GT500 from the Gone in 60 Seconds remake.
It’s a pretty fascinating build, if you haven’t seen it thus far. Here is every episode in the series published:
