Default Check Fuel Fill Inlet Message

Hey everyone
I’ve been dealing with this for a while and I’m stumped. My check engine light came on and when I hooked up my code reader I got a code of P144c which I thought the EVAP sensor needed replaced. So I replaced the sensor and now I get a message that says Check Fuel Fill Inlet, but no check engine light. Has anyone experienced this and know what could be causing it?

Some have had problems resulting from the fuel door not sealing. Cure is a rag and some carb cleaner and wipe on door as well as back side of tube where the door contacts. Whether this will cure your problem I can’t really say, but it is probably a good place to start.

I've seen this message before and it's usually related to a loose or damaged fuel fill inlet, you might want to check if it's properly tightened or if there's any damage around that area. Sometimes it can also be caused by a faulty fuel cap, so you might want to try replacing that as well. If you're still having trouble, you can try using a diagnostic tool from a site like obdbuy.com to get a more detailed reading of what's going on with your car.

As an addition to my earlier comment, that applies to the capless filler found on S550 and S650. I don’t know when they introduced that on Mustangs. Plus, you didn’t mention what year your car is.
