Default Painted stripes

Alot of people here have used the stripe kits from BSM but I was curious if anyone has had their stripes painted on or checked into having them painted and the the cost would be? I know for the price it would be hard to beat BSM but wouldn't paint be more durable?

jrakestraw,
I had my stripes and wheels painted by the dealer for $995 total. They had used the car for a promotion at a back to the 50's show here in Minneapolis.

Thanks, That's not too bad of a price for the dealer to do it.

I'm getting mine painted on for $1500. That includes them painting my new Roush nose and installing it, 2 stripes (9 inches wide each) ,taking the rear spoiler off to paint the stripe all the way around it and clear coating the frt bumper, hood, roof, spoiler, rear decklid and rear bumber. This way you will not feel the edge of the stripes.

My stripes are painted on, but can not tell you really how much extra it was. I bought my car out of the dealership's show room and they had many other custom things already done to it and tagged the window sticker with one dealer added price. I really like the painted stripes and feel that they are the way to go. My buddy has a 2003 mustang that has the vinyl stripes. The problem I see with those are the highway stone chips really messed with his so I'd assume it would be the same for all. But then again, his stripes shrunk a bit over time, so they may have been low quality (or all do, dunno). I just feel that the paint is much more durable.

Hi, I just checked that out at a quality body shop and was quoted $1200-$1500. This was hood/roof/trunk dual strip w/small 3/8" pinstripe along the sides. As he stressed it's not just the prep it's the centering of the stripes. As you can guess it would look like crap if they were crooked. Have fun with your Mustang.
