im looking to mod my grill section with a billet straight bar grill... my question is that most of the grills i found are overlays... i dont want to make my ride look chessy... i really like the t-rex billet grill but skeptical about it being an overlay... would i hav to remove the silver horse so not to see in through the overlay... i need some input before i lay down the cash... hehehe

 

CDC makes some nice high quality ones, and they are replacements, a bit pricey though[:-]

Overlays only serve to block more air flow. I have a street scene Eleanor and all of the the honeycombs are open. That's my 2 cents.

 

I've got the SS Eleanor as well and I love it. It looks great.

 

Overlays look too fugly....I was lucky and got one that was on the Shelby GT-H before they were making the CDC ones. But if you want a good one get the CDC one. Why not buy something that is more expensive for your car and have it look great and be done with it, then buy one that is cheaper and you might change your mind and buy the more expensive one later. Go with the CDC!!

 

I bought a comple replacement black billet grille from Atlanta Auto, about 300. Great upgrade IMO.

Hay Fallout how hard is it to get the old grill out? I have looked at mine and the tabs are squeezed in the slots it looks like you would have to bust them off to get the old grill out can you help me out with how hard or easy it is with some tips as well?

umm if you have the PP it will be harder than if you dont, because the fogs are almsot blocking two of the tabs, you just have to take the black cover off the top of the grill and pry it off with a screwdriver, be forcefull but within reason, it wont want to come off easily for you, i actually broke 1 of the tabs off the stock PP grill when removing, the 2 on each side are easy, the bottom is the part that will give you a harder time, but once you get 1 out on the bottom it will start to come loose for you
