Default Functional Chin Spoiler

I am looking for a chin spoiler for my GT that is functional yet has a good look on the car. I am not looking for a full on race car spoiler like on the FR500S, but something that will help w/ airflow, and keep that front end from getting too light at speed. I kinda like the modified GT500's, but don't know if I feel like going to the trouble to modify one. Then there is this one on SHR's website that looks pretty nice: http://www.silverhorseracing.com/web...ategory_id=255

Thanks in advance,

Scott

from what i understand, there is no functional chin spoiler. they are just for looks. although it says it will improve gas mileage, i doubt it. i dont think anyone buys a chin for performance improvements, just to make the car look lower and better

While im not really educated in the functionality of chin spoilers, im sure it would make at least a slight difference. Perhaps the combination of a chin, canards, and wind splitters would make the best difference. But if they are adding downforce, there subtracting efficiency arent they?

The front splitter on the GT500KR is supposedly functional, increasing downforce on the front end by 50lbs, and reducing drag 3% at the same time. (MotorTrend July 2008, p63) I don't know if you can add this to a standard GT front and expect the same results.

I thought front splitters were functional. I know Astra Hammond sells a NICE looking splitter. I'm actually thinking about getting it myself.

unless you're going over 200mph, the chin probably wont help you in any noticeable way. it probably helps with aerodynamics somewhat, but not enough at low speeds for you to notice.

so if you plan on getting one, get it for looks, not "functionality"

EDIT

Just realized you don't want something like the FR500 splitter

Its not like I don't like the look, but I just guess I am not willing to pay $1400 for a splitter.

I guess what I am looking for is something that will help the front end from feeling so light at 120mph+ but does not look like crap. The Astra looks pretty nice, but looks pretty small (i.e. decreased surface area = less downforce).

Thanks,

Scott

try the gt500 splitter. it's designed to be functional iirc
