Default Window Tint

I have an appt. to get my windows tinted on Wed. and after looking into it there are alot of options out there as far as quality of tint. My problem is that I don't know anything about any of them! What can ya'll tell me about tint? I have researched the laws and know about the legal Visible Light Transmission percentage but I am curious about the tint itself.

I have Llumar tint, shaded to dark as legal for Florida use. I got it the second day I owned the car. So far no bubbling (just under a year and a half). The only thing is that I have streaks on both my driver's side and passenger's side. This could have been prevented using moleskin, but I did not know about it at the time. Make sure that the place that you get the work done ensures you that no bubbles or peeling will occur. The place I got mine from guaranteed the tint for the life of the car. They did an awesome job.

Go with 3M tint, it is the most scratch resistant on the market. I use a place that does computerized cutting, so there is no cutting at all on the actual car, the film is cut perfectly before they place the tint on the car. Because of my area I went with 20% in the rear and 35% on the doors. I have been using www.samswindowtinting.com since 2003 they are great, it is an hour and half drive each way for me, but they are well worth it.

JasperGt: The only thing is that I have streaks on both my driver's side and passenger's side.

I got my 06 GT done about a year ago by a guy that was highly recommended and very knowledgeable. He told me on the S197's there's no protection on the inside of the window, only the rubber piece, which would cause streaking over time. He charged me an extra $10 and installed a strip of felt along the base of the window on both doors and it looks great.

I have 5% rear window tint, was thinking about getting the rest of them done with possibly 20% plus the felt stripe install.

I heard you can just get 08 weather stripping and then you don't need moleskin.
