There are a few threads about eliminating rattles from the louvers. I found that I needed to apply a small piece of tape insulation at each of the 90 degree angle pieces that connect the louvers right where the angle has the potential to contact the window. The manufacturer applied insulation tends to compress as the louver shakes and the angle piece, although near the insulation, will occasionally make metal-to-window contact.

lol my rear window louvers always does 'the wave' whenever I go through the 110mph air dryer at the end of the car wash. It shakes and it rattles when I go through it but after wards, they are fine.

I had aluminum hinged louvers on my '82 GT and loved them. I would avoid plastic louvers like the plague. They may be "retro" but IMO plastic will not hold up like aluminum. Not to mention the stuff you have to put on that plastic to make it look new plus when it rains or when dew falls on your car, where do you think that "stuff" goes? Right.....on your paint.
Also get the hinged ones, it will be so much better when you want to clean the back glass.
This is one mod I want to do on my current Mustang.....well worth it IMO.

The only thing I DON'T like about my aluminum Astra-Hammond louvers are that they are NOT hinged. I had a set of hinged louvers on an old '81 Celica and they were very easy to work with to clean the window. I have to remove my A-H's about every 3rd washing to properly clean the window. Otherwise, it's a PITA getting between the slats to dry the window. At least you don't notice the dirty window with the louvers on unless its really, REALLY bad.
