Default What does it really take to cut my bumper?

Because according to my local body shop it takes $100 and a couple of hours. I'm going to be converting to duals in the next couple of weeks and would much rather cut my V6 bumper than buy a GT-takeoff, not just because of the cost but I honestly like the look better. What kind of tools and procedure do I need to do this myself or get a friend to do it for me?

It's just plastic, not that hard to cut at all.

Use some card board to make a pattern from the right side, and transfer it to the left side.

Remove the muffler.

Go down to Home Depot and get a small package of rotozip bits and a fine half round file. Use the bits in any standard VSR drill, and cut very carefully. Cut in a bevel, with the oblique angle to the front and the acute angle to the rear. Dress the cut carefully with the file. Don't round the edge, leave it sharp. Use some touch up paint for the new edge.

It might take you an hour.

It is very easy to do - no need to take it to the shop. I used the Pypes template at www.pypesexhaust.com (just make sure you print it "full size" and not in make it fit mode), and a carpet cutter. Then some sandpaper around a wine bottle to smooth it down.

I talked to my friends dad who you used to work at an paint and body place and he said to use what i think he called a hole drill. He said i can just come by the house some time and he'll get it done for me.
