as far as I know the problem isn't so much the bumper of the GT that makes it so it doesn't fit but the fact that the hood slops up in the middle where the grill is so you're left with a gap between the grill and the hood. They do make GT500 look alike hoods that will fit a GT though.
In order for a GT500 hood to work you need the GT500 front conversion kit for sure. But Trufiber just came out with the GTS-4 hood and it looks awesome! It fits with out the GT500 front conversion kit
i was wondering since i have a tip on a cheap GT500 hood in my color. But if i have to get the whole kit there is no way i can swing that $$ right now. wedding in less than one year. Woman won't let me... lol
The GT500 hood will not fit the GT front end. The pillars next to the headlights will interfere with it...that's why they are slanted on the GT500 front end.

You can make it work...
The upper bumper brackets have to be re-worked, because the Cobra hood will hit the top of the bumper pillars.
Having said that, it still will look funny because the rise of the Cobra hood in the middle front edge won't match the GT bumper look.

The one pic ive seen of a 500 hood on a gt looked pretty cool to me. The gap was noticeable but it looked like it was meant to be there. Then again that may have been the angle of the pic

And also my taste doesn't count much since it's only subjective.
I just know I wouldn't like it on my car...
